Welcome to Open Doors for Teens- Notice something different?
watch as we create a whole new look for our website!

Dear West Michigan Teen;

If school isn’t working for you, you can leave the classroom.  Reclaim the joy of learning in a way that fits you best.  Open Doors is here to help.

At the Open Doors Center* we assign a mentor to each teen member.  With your mentor’s help, you create your independent learning plan. The learning plan can include:

  • your passions and interests
  • community connections
  • volunteering and internships
  • hands-on experiences
  • tutoring
  • independent projects
  • informal classes at Open Doors
  • social opportunities

Open Doors will help you find those community connections, define those research projects, and decide upon classes and opportunities that work for you.  Your mentor remains available to help with each step as you figure out who you are, how you learn, and what you have to offer the world.

Open Doors can advise your family about meeting the homeschooling requirements of the State of Michigan, so you can leave the classroom and learn in your own way.

Get excited again: not just about learning, but about life.  Contact us to take a tour and talk to our staff. If you’d like to receive our community newsletters, let us know.

is to empower teens and their families to reclaim the joy of learning. We assist them in making a personal learning plan that best meets their individual learning needs, desires, and goals.  With this support teens develop a sense of personal identity and direction for their vocation and social contribution.
